As we had done the year before, when we rode into Bobcaygeon, our bikes were left at the local cop shop. Luckily, they were still there when we came back from our walk.  ........ ....... As luck would have it, we happened to walk past the lock right when Hold The Dream was arriving.  ........ ....... Bobcaygeon lock.  ........ ....... Riding back to the marina. The road is lower than the lake ar this point.  ........ ....... The afternoon sky looked a little threatening. Small wonder with all the hot & humid weather we had.  ........ ....... Talk about deja vu - If you take a look at our '04 holiday pics, you'll see these guys pulling into the same marina under the same dark cloud! Fortunately, this time there wasn't a big downpour.  ........ ....... With some extra time on his hands, Brauweiller decided to finally get that new name installed. . . .  ........ ....... "Hmmmm, an ice cream cone would go great with this laundry washing."  ........ ....... "Bar tender! Set me up with a vanilla, on the cone."  ........ ....... Looking back towards the big boys' toys.  ........ ....... The only thing that was good about going SHOE SHOPPING in town was the air conditioning in the store. Trouble was that I had to negotiate all the crazed women shopping in the place! Look, here's one of them now . . . .  ...... ....... Anchor Broad fastens the lines, as we head out of Centre Point Marina.  ........ ....... C'mon guys, we're leaving. Look, Brauweiller's new lettering fell off. . . .  ........ ....... Somehow, Hold The Dream got in front of us when we left the Fenelon Falls lock. That was a fun lock through, as we were mixed in with a total of ELEVEN boats!  ........ ....... Cutting across Cameron Lake, between Fenelon Falls & Rosedale.  ........ ....... Look - no hands!  ........ ....... Brauweiller's all smiles as we approach Rosedale lock. Just as we reached the lock, there was a mini thunderstorm - with a maxi downpour! We had to pull off to the side to throw up our canvas (s). The rain pelted down for just enough time to get soaked!  ........ ....... Crossing Balsam Lake, it looked like we were gonna get dumped on again. As it turned out, we wouldn't see any more rain until we got to Midland, a few days later.  ........ ....... Hold The Dream catches up to us just as we enter the canal on the east side of Balsam Lake.  ........ ....... The long, straight passage . . .  ........ ....... Our escort.  ........ ....... The remnants of an abandoned houseboat. This is the third year we have passed by this thing, and it's deteriorating really quickly.  ........ ....... This is the buoyed channel through Mitchell Lake. Not much of a lake, really - more like creek that has overflowed it's banks - as you'll see in the following picture. (Wow, Man - that's like foreshadowing . . . )  ........ ....... Those black dots in the water are an endless sea of tree stumps. You go outside of the channel on this lake & you, too, will have stories to tell :-(  ........ ....... The top of Kirkfield liftlock. This is the highest point in the entire Trent Severn Waterway.  ........ ....... Gee, I thought I'd be able to see a little farther . . .  ........ ....... Reaching the bottom of the liftlock.  ........ ....... See, Graham, Freebird would fit right in here :-)  ........ ....... Waiting to lock through at Bolsover. Man, I can feel the heat of that day just looking at this picture. Only 5 more locks & we're back on Simcoe. Ya, 5 locks and about 2 gallons of sweat!  ........ ....... One . . . . more . . . . . lock . . . . to go . . . . . PHEW - sure is hot!  ........ ....... For those of you taking notes, this is NOT the way to follow a boat through a narrow passage. See what I had to put up with????  ........ ....... Back on to Lake Simcoe!  ........ ....... This was my chance to make some distance between me & that silly guy who took this beautiful shot. (That's Thorah Island off to the right)  ........ ....... Nearly 8 hours - and 8 locks - after leaving Bobcaygeon, we enter Lagoon City.  ........ ....... Ahhhhhhhhh. Kicking back with a (few) cold ones, after a long day of boating. (See the video camera on the table? Click HERE for a WINDOWS MEDIA clip of what it captured)  ...... ....... Mmmmm, homemade burgers! Boat made, actually. Billie Sue prepared these things on the way & we threw them on the Barbee for a fantastic supper!  ...... ....... Don't worry, I took a shower after this picture was taken.
