The Log Book.

After much messing around - and messing up, the Log Book has been officially discontinued.
The following is an archive of the posted messages.

It would be great to hear from you all on the BLOG. . .
Anyone can leave a comment on any of the posts (new or old), and if you want to become a full fledged contributor (text or photos - even video clips), email me & I will send you an invite - it's as simple as that.
Or not.

The memories are so many, from rafting at the nunery,to toasting the new dock extension,You and Pat on the dance floor at McCluskeys for Pats 50th.There are Hundreds of other memories, but I will always think of you as "the Skipper" a man of few words but always a smile for everyone. God Bless you skipper, may the wind always be at your back, and the sun upon your face, and may you always sail calm waters to eternity.
Pat, I know this is hard for you now, But Diane and I both wish you the very best in this time of sorrow...

Message: have to say although we all knew bruce was sick and being treated this came as a total surprise out of left field, it's been a quiet night hhere at home thinking /remembering the friend we made a few years ago when i brought my boat to rotten row the first time ,bashing and crashing into the finger docks like a blind man in a china shop. only to get off the boat and theres this guy on the back of his boat ..(mybride).. he sets his beer down looks up and says those slips never seem wide enough do they laughs and sips his beer. please note at that time i was docking my 25ft boat in the big slips on the other side .. 2 days later he pulls out with the power cord still attached , ripping it out of the outlet , and i said to this man ..still sipping his beer ...those cords are never long enough are they . he laughed raised his beer and down the river he went. and that my friends his how i remember our friend the skipper a beer salut and headin out the river to the lake for a little nap , and thats where he his right now out on the lake for a little nap. so i say we all head out on the bay in the spring and join bruce.
our condolences to pat and the family this is a very sad day indeed.

Message: Greetings from the Trent-Severn Waterway! Just wanted to post a quick note from our latest stop, at Campbellford, which is about halfway between Hastings & Trenton. What a fantastic day - and trip. While I write this, we are tied up to the wall right along the Trent River, and I am watching a Carver (from Crate's, actually) running across to the other side to get some gas, but more on that later . . . FIRST, I wanted to say 'Thanks' to Sharon - I did just get your encouraging email (!!!), but with this S-L-O-W & spotty wireless internet connection, it's taking forever to do the email thing . . . . I'll try to get into the marina office later to hook up to their network, but we are just about to head off on the bikes to do some sight seeing around town. Have had great weather so far and the scenery and travel have been wonderful. Apart from the storm last Monday, things have been pretty uneventful - just relaxing, seeing the sights and meeting folks along the way. Should be in Trenton by Tuesday or Wednesday, will spend a couple of days there & start to head back. Really looking forward to seeing you all at the end of our trip, up at the top of Lake! (I picked up some sparklers already, Sharon). Got about 12 million pics so far (I know everyone is busting to see them - HA!). Gotta go, as Anchor Girl is giving me the sign. OUCH! She didn't have to slap that hard . . . . .

Message: Hi all,
Just a note about the Orillia docks. We went there for a visit by car last weekend to take a
look and book our spot for the long weekend and I gotta tell ya, the place is just saturated
with weeds. The water level has dropped a bit and maybe they?re just closer to the surface but it?s really bad. I talked to the staff and was told that weed removal was just completed recently but the guy didn?t do a very good job and they would not be doing it again this season. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked why the contractor wasn?t asked to return and do it right. Of course no satisfactory answer so I?m going to write an email to the Port of Orillia and state my concerns. Maybe if several of us do, they may consider doing the job over again. I also mentioned that the docks at our end were full of seagull poop, it seems to be the area where they all hang out. I was assured that the area would be cleaned and ready for us.

We?re in slip 211. See yas there Friday night.

Sounds like things have been a little quiet at the marina. Don't feel bad. There doesn't seem to be much action at the marina across from us either. I'm sure things will pick up eventually. We've been busy doing things around the house, so no boating on our end as well. Miss you guys. See you all soon.

Message: A Cruise Down Memory Lane

Hi all,
Just wanted to remind everyone of the refreshing memories of years gone by at the marina. It?s so easy to just pop in and look for updates on the site and leave if none are apparent (I do it too). But I woke up really early this morning (you probably know what I mean Kevin), logged on and went a little further this time. I decided to look at some of the pages kept from previous years. Man, what a hoot. Good times, good laughs and great friends. The memories will always be there but seeing them on the screen again is like they just happened yesterday. It was a refreshing browse, some of it felt like the first time and I found myself laughing again. I think I?ll try to do it more often. Check it out, again!

Well, it?s official. With mixed emotions, Gothic Pearl and crew would like to inform everyone that this was our last season at the marina. We have sold our house and are moving northbound. The sad part is that we will miss all our friends and the Rotten Row antics. Summer just won?t be the same without you guys. The happy part is that we?ll have the Pearl in our own backyard. The plan however is to make Keswick a destination once in a while and to extend invitations for our place. I bet we can beat all of you to the Orillia docks!!

I still plan on contributing as much as I can to the RR web site (if that?s okay) and will visit it often to keep in touch. We?d like to continue to be included in some of the planned activities such as Xmas in June, Frankie?s Feb Follies etc., would be nice to see you all once in a while.

Bye for now

Its has been a year that has had alot of changes, and strange times, I think for all.
We, Diane and I moved up here to Keswick, and others have moved on to higher places. We have all seen New friends come and old friends go.
We have seen old friends get new boats and new friends get old ones.
The weather sure hasn't been the best for boating, but it has been good for sitting around the fire, telling stories and making some up.
So now the time has come to say A-du, until next year when we will do it all again, and yes we will, see old friends go and new friends come.
To all of you who are members of the Keswick marina I wish you a very happy and safe winter and a very joyous Holiday season......From Steve & Diane

Message: Larry, sorry to hear about the lack of appreciation. I for one, am thankful for all the events you?ve planned. I couldn?t commit to a spot for this year?s Xmas in June by the time you needed an answer but things have changed and I?d appreciate being advised if someone drops off the list and frees up a spot. Thanks Larry....Keep up the good work
