My Way, New York, New York
& 'Best Wishes'
+ 'The End Is Near'
(Updated Oct. 6/02)

'The End is Near'

Now it begins to look like Fall.
My thoughts go back to a Summer of Paul.

I hate to make that final wave;
And that brings me to Cheryl & Dave.

I now know what its like, I hate to leave;
I will miss Diane & Steve.

I am leaving  against my will;
See you soon Linda & Bill.

Wow summer has all but gone;
See you in the Spring  JO & Ron.

The Bay is becoming all sparkly;
See you later Vern & Barkley.

I can't wait till I can again Fart;
Thanks for your help Art.

Janice and I want to do more carin';
See you Dom, Miguel, & Sharon.

We can't wait till spring and we're Prayin';
To see our friends Deb. & Graham.

Good-bye lawn people I know it's scary.;
That Rotten Row could end up with Larry.

Hold The Dream good luck to Paul;
We believe you gave it your all.

With the new boat we feel a lot better;
That is why I wrote this letter.

Now that the time is Near;
I'll go and get another beer.

In Orillia I know it was a little wacky;
Hey let's not forget our Jackie.

Love to you all good friends;
And this is where this will end.

The poem can be sung to Muppett Song;
'Cookie Monsters' - Janice says so long.

Of course, we are all familiar with that all time musical fav - "My Way".
Well, I just couldn't leave it alone.
For everyone's amusement, I have penned a new (and more appropriate)
set of lyrics for the Rotten Row Gang.

First, read this news report - submitted by The Harbour Master.
(I'm not sure if it's true, or if he made it up for my benefit :-)

Sinatra Classic Song A Fatal Attraction
PHILIPPINES  A Filipino man was killed and his friend seriously wounded after they sarcastically applauded a 21-year-old student
for singing Frank Sinatra's classic My Way off-key at a karaoke parlor in downtown Manila, according to a newspaper report.

After getting into a fight with the student's friends, the victims left the parlor to avoid trouble but were ambushed outside and shot
by the student who was later arrested.

Newspapers have said Philippine karaoke parlors have been removing My Way from play lists because fights frequently broke out - for unfathomable reasons - when the song was sung.

The song seems to drive many drunken men to commit anything from slight physical injuries to homicide, reports said.

Let that be a lesson - Don't Mess with Frankie's Music - HA HA!

Here Is The Traditional Version:

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I 'll say it clear,
I 'll state my case of which I 'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full,
I traveled each and every highway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it My Way.

Regrets, I 've had a few,
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exception
I planned each charted course
each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this,
I did it My Way.

Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it My Way.

I 've loved,
I 've laughed and cried,
I 've had my fill, my share of losing
and now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
to think I did all that
and may I say not in a shy way

Oh no, oh no not me
I did it My Way

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows
I took the blows -
And did it my way

And Here Is The Improved Version:

And now the end is near
And so we face the final boat ride
My fridge, full of cold beer,
Consume my case of that I 'm certain.

I've sailed a whole tank full,
I've scratched my hull and every dock way,
And more, much more than this,
Down on my Sea Ray.

Some Beers, I 've had a few,
But then again too few to lend ‘em
I did what I had to do
I sold my Grew and bought a cruiser
I planned each new CD
each festive song we'd all be singing
we'd dance, to each of them,
Down on my Sea Ray.

Yes there were times, I'm sure you know
When the speakers would nearly blow
But through it all when songs were through
It just meant time for one more brew
We sang them all, watched Marie fall
Down on My Sea Ray.

I 've waxed,
Cleaned drinks that spilled,
I 've had my fill, my share of cruising
and now as summer ends
I find us all intoxicated
to think we drank all that
and may I say ‘your turn to buy, Dave’

Oh no, I gotta go
Down on My Sea Ray

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not a boat, an empty dock.
‘Paul, you don't have to shout’;
John will surely kick us out
If we get the boot
We had a HOOT -
Down on My Sea Ray!

If we get the boot
We had a HOOT
Down - on - My - Sea  - Ray!

By popular demand (ok, 1 request) I have taken the liberty
(along with allot of artistic license) to rework the lyrics for that classic tune - 'New York, New York'.
Enjoy.
New York, New York
Frank Sinatra

Start spreadin' the news, I'm leavin' today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York

I want to wake up, in a city that never sleeps
And find I'm king of the hill
Top of the heap

These little town blues, are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York.. New York

New York... New York
I want to wake up, in a city that never sleeps
And find I'm A number one, top of the list
King of the hill, A number one....

These little town blues, are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York.. New York!!!

New York, New York
Commodore Frankie

Get ready to cruise, we're sailing away,
I want to party on the dock
Down on The Row
Art's giving advice, Bill's stocking the ice
And Steve is storing up his beer
Down on The Row

I want to crank up all the music, that I've burned
And have a box for my dock
That Dom won't mock

Dave bought a new boat, so Cheryl can gloat
We've got our very own web site,
For Rotten Row
If Graham can park it there, Debbie won't have to swear
We'll have a blast down on The Row

The Row ...The Row
I want to party with some boaters who never sleep
Along with Janice & Dan, Bruce & ‘His Bride’, Don't forget Diane....

When Friday night tunes, are fading away
We'll make a brand new start of it
On Saturday
So we can party on, we'll even invite John
We'll have a blast down on The Row!!

Here's a quick one, for everyone!

'Best Wishes'

There once was a boater named Frankie
Who was getting a little bit cranky
His boat's bottom was dry
And he started to sigh
Would someone please get him a hanky

He knew that this couldn't be right
What would he do Saturday night?
As he dried his last tear
What to do till next year?
He thought he would build a web site

To stay in touch with his friends
With mates, his fun never ends
The summer, in all it's glory
He had little to be sorry
To them, this message he sends

He remembered the fun that they had
And thought that it wasn't so bad
Looking forward to next season
This gave him a reason
To go on, not being so sad

Summer had gone by too fast
And despite the fact it did not last
The hot days of cruising
And lazing and snoozing
It certainly was a great blast

Next season would soon be at hand
More good times, as yet still unplanned
New memories to fill
And nights with a thrill
With Frankie up leading the band

All the new places he would go
And all of the parties he'd throw
With all of his friends
And the beer that he lends
Down on that place called “Rotten Row”

He knew that he had a great crew
To party the whole summer through
Things would get funny
With Stevie & ‘Honey’
His buddies from Getaway II

Next there'd be Bill on his Sea Ray
He would say as Frank passed by his way
“I think a cold one's the answer”
“Step on my Sundancer”
“Let Lynda clean up Kaitlyn J

Next is the craft Work Of Art
That had not one faulty part
Frankie found it amusing
This boat built for cruising
Would rarely the marina depart

Dom & Sharon need someone befitting
Gothic Pearl, they'll never be quitting
They thought of a ruse
To talk Santa Cruz
Into doing their ‘new baby’ sitting

Next Cheryl & Dave he would see
His good friends aboard TLC
Down by their dock
The music would rock
A great time, they would guarantee

Frankie then met gang from the team
Pryme Time, Status Quo, Hold The Dream
At night they would gather
To share fun and laughter
Their good times were always supreme

Next Frankie did become aware
Of a very familiar pair
Gord quietly consuming
While Val was still fuming
Bottoms Up, hull dangling in air

Then there's Jan & grumpy old Dan
The guy with the 3 acre tan
Maybe he'll do some less bitchin
Instead he'll be fishin
On his bigger, improved boat, Jan Dan

Graham & Debbie, for a good time they aim
Their friendship he likes to proclaim
But Frankie must wrestle
When hailing their vessel
When will they give it a Name?

At the end of the Row was My Bride
With Bruce and Pat at his side
While holding his beer can
Bruce hatching a new plan
Season end, where his boat would hide

This was the end of Frankie's rowing
And I guess he'd better get going
Not much time now to spare
And he's gotta prepare
For parties he's gonna be throwing!

One last word before I'm gone
But I'm sure - not for very long
If I had been smart
Right when I did start
This would have made a wonderful song!

Thank-you, Thank-you very much . . . . .
